Crystal Impact Licenses
CRYSTAL IMPACT offers four different license types for its own products
Diamond, Endeavour, and Match! , differing both in the validity time as well as the number of
permitted installations:
Version updates and license upgrades are also
available.
Please note the different license model for Pearson's
Crystal Data, which is published by ASM International and
re-distributed by Crystal Impact!
This license type is valid for a single user only. It is available valid for 6 months ("semiannual license") or 12 months ("annual license"). The license can only be installed
on the licensee's PC as well as on his laptop.
During its validity time, you can upgrade from a (semi-) annual license to a permanent license. The still open usage time will be credited to your permanent license bill.
Annual licenses are
always delivered electronically; shipment of a manual/DVD package is not
available for this license type.

A single license is a permanent license that can be used on one computer only.
If the license is purchased for one specific user, installation on the laptop of the license owner in addition
to the office PC is allowed if the software is only used on one of the
computers at a time.

A site license is a permanent license, too. It allows multiple installations and is most suitable for a work group or even an institute or
department. With this license, the software can be installed on an unlimited
number of PCs within an institute or department, e.g. an "Institute of Chemical
Physics". A license upgrade from one or more single licenses to a site
license is available.

A campus license is the permanent license of choice if a software shall be used in more
than one university institute or company department. It allows the installation
of the software on an unlimited number of PCs within a university or company at a single site.
Please note that this license does not allow the usage of the software on
private student laptops/PCs!
License upgrades from one or more single or site licenses to a campus
license are available. If there is already more than one single or site license
present at an institution, the license upgrade price from site to campus
license applies.

A license upgrade is used to change e.g. from a single license to a site
license. A version update is used to change from one version of a
particular product to a higher version (e.g. Diamond 3.x to Diamond 4).
Note: A license upgrade does not include a version update and
vice versa.
A license is normally registered for the institution or person who purchased it.
If you would like to transfer it to another licensee/organization, Crystal Impact
must be informed in order to ensure proper support and update privileges. A
written confirmation of the institution who originally purchased the license is typically
required for the license transfer.

Here is a list of the most common questions concerning the Crystal Impact
license types:
Q: Can I upgrade my current annual license to a permanent license?
A: Yes, this is not possible. You will be credited your unused validity time of your annual license on your permanent license bill. Please contact us in case you would like to do so!
Q: Can I downgrade my current permanent license to an annual license?
A: No, this is not possible, unfortunately.
Q: Will my annual license be renewed automatically?
A: No. Please purchase a new (semi-) annual license if you would like to continue using the software once the previous license has expired.
Q: I have purchased a single license for my laboratory PC. Can I install the
software also on my laptop?
A: Yes, you can install a software also on your laptop if the software is only
used on one of the two computers at a time.
Q: We have two or more single licenses in our institute. Can we upgrade to a site
license for free, because the price of a site license is only twice the price
of a single license?
A: No, you have to purchase an upgrade from a single to a site license. An
upgrade is always based on the highest available license (here a single
license); it is not possible to accumulate base licenses for an upgrade. An
exception can only be made if there is a really large number of single licenses
(>=5) available in an institute/department.
Q: How many software CDs and manuals are delivered along with a site license?
A: For all three license types, one installation CD and one color-printed
manual are shipped by default. However, additional manuals and CDs can be
obtained for 25 EUR per copy (price does not include taxes or shipping costs
which may apply). Please contact us in case you would
like to receive additional manuals/CDs!
Q: Are we allowed to create copies of the installation CD for distribution and
backup purposes?
A: Yes, you are allowed to do so, as long as the usage outside your department
or institute is prohibited.
Please note that each installation CD is personalized: It contains the
name of the ordering institution as well as a serial number, so we can track
back illegal copies of a CD to the original customer.
Q: Does a campus license for software [...] exist at my company/university?
A: From our experience we know that it is not always clear to all
company/university members which software products are available at their
institution. Hence, we have marked the institutions which own a campus license
with a '(*)' sign on the corresponding "References" pages for
Diamond, Endeavour and
Match!.
Q: Who has the installation CD and manual for a campus licensed software at my
company/university?
A: By default, we ship an installation CD and manual to the key person
mentioned in the purchase order. Please contact us if
you would like to know the contact details of the corresponding key person at
your institution!
Q: How many software CDs and manuals are delivered along with a campus license?

and PCs?
A: Students are welcome to use the software on university PCs, for example in
libraries and seminar rooms. However, they are not allowed to copy or install
the software on their own private computers.
Q: Can individual (single or site license) major updates be derived from an
existing campus license?
A: Yes. We know that it may be a difficult task to purchase a (major) campus
license update for individuals in a company/university. Hence, you can purchase
a single or site license update based on an existing campus license. However,
please note that there is no compensation if the whole campus license is
updated later on.
